These Records Were Broken in the SRH vs MI IPL Match

On March 27, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) played an exciting match at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Both teams' hitters put on an impressive show of shot-making. Many records were broken; let us have a look.

Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya's choice to win the toss and bowl first on a flat pitch did not go as planned. Travis Head, the Australian batsman who ruined India's ODI World Cup hopes earlier in November 2023, was in blistering form, scoring 62 off 24 balls. He scored the IPL's quickest 50 as a Hyderabad batsman.

However, it is likely that the record was broken in the minimum amount of time. Abhishek Sharma quickly broke his teammate's record, reaching 50 off just 16 balls. Prior to this match, David Warner held the record for quickest 50 by an SRH hitter. He scored 50 off 20 balls twice.
Hyderabad also scored the most runs in the IPL's opening ten overs. The previous record was 131/3, established during another MI vs. SRH encounter in the IPL 2021. This time, Hyderabad, led by Head and Sharma, scored 148/2 in the opening 10 overs.
South African batsmen Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram hit the most runs for the fourth wicket (116*), significantly exceeding the 93* recorded by MC Henriques and Yuvraj Singh against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2017.
The two batsmen continued to hit fours and sixes, setting the highest IPL target in history.

Hyderabad finished their innings with 277/3, the biggest total in tournament history. The record was previously held by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2013, due to Chris Gayle's 175, RCB reached 263/5 against the Pune Warriors.
