Every year on February 22, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from over 150 countries come together to celebrate World Thinking Day. This special day honors the global sisterhood of the Movement, reflecting on its rich history and shared values.
The Origins of World Thinking Day
World Thinking Day was established in 1926 during the Fourth Girl Scout International Conference. Delegates sought a day for members worldwide to think of each other and express gratitude for the international friendship within the Movement. February 22 was chosen as it marks the birthdays of both Lord Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scout movement, and his wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell, the World Chief Guide.
2025 Theme: "Our Story"
The theme for World Thinking Day 2025 is "Our Story: Reflecting the Symbolism and Values of Our Movement." This theme invites members to delve into the Movement's history, understand its core values, and appreciate the symbolism that has shaped Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting over the past century.
